What is a bag on valve?Bag on Valve (BoV) is a packaging technology that involves placing a flexible bag containing the product inside an aerosol can. The product is dispensed by a propellant that is stored between the bag and the can. This design offers several advantages over traditional aerosol packaging, including increased product protection, better dispensing control, and the ability to use eco-friendly propellants. Bag on Valve systems are commonly used for various products such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, and household goods.
Difference between Male and Female Valves in BOV:
*Male Valve: The valve stem extends above the valve cup plane, and the actuator is fitted onto the valve stem. Suitable for low-viscosity solutions.
*Female Valve: The valve stem is below the valve cup plane, and the actuator is integrated with the valve stem. Designed specifically for high-viscosity solutions, offering stronger sealing.
Sealing Requirements:
*Pressure Standard: Must maintain leak-free operation for 1 minute at ≥0.85 MPa (compliant with GB/T17447-2012).
*Material Compatibility: High-viscosity solutions require a female valve and nitrile rubber sealing ring to prevent backflow or contamination.
Application Scenarios:
Pharmaceutical valves need to be resistant to propellants and have strict sealing requirements. Rubber expansion must be less than 6% to avoid drug contamination. The integrated structure of the female valve may be more conducive to stable spraying of high-viscosity solutions, while the independent valve stem of the male valve facilitates adjustment of the spray rate.
*Low-viscosity solutions: Male valve + standard seal, such as metered-dose aerosols.
*High-viscosity solutions: Female valve + enhanced seal, such as suspension aerosols.
